BISHNUPUR, June 2: Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam on Tuesday inspected Bishnupur District Hospital to review plans for upgrading the existing 50-bed facility into a 200-bed healthcare institution.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam and senior officials from various departments, the minister assessed the infrastructure requirements and other measures necessary for the proposed expansion.
During the visit, officials presented details of the proposed project and discussed the facilities needed to support the hospital’s growth. Konthoujam said the government remains committed to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that quality medical services are available to people within their own districts.
He described the proposed expansion as an important step toward strengthening the state’s healthcare network and advancing the vision of “One District, One Medical College” championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The inspection was also attended by the Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur, and representatives of various civil society organisations.
