Hopegrown Black Rice Initiative Launched at Lok Bhavan to Restore Livelihoods

The Hopegrown – Black Rice initiative of the Kangpokpi District Administration was launched by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Lok Bhavan, Imphal, marking a significant step towards restoring livelihoods of displaced families through sustainable farming practices.

The initiative aims to support affected families by enabling them to engage in black rice cultivation, providing income security while promoting dignity, resilience, and long-term self-reliance. Each harvest is intended to help families rebuild their lives through sustainable agricultural practices.

During the launch programme, the Governor directed officials to study the initiative and explore its replication in other districts, with suitable adaptations based on local conditions and available resources, to extend benefits to displaced and vulnerable communities across the state.

The brief event was attended by the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Secretary to the Governor, and the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi.
