Kakching, Aug 31: A large-scale tree plantation drive was carried out today at Angan Ching Eco Park, Kakching, with 100 saplings planted through a joint initiative of the State Bank of India (SBI) Regional Business Office, Imphal East, and the Alliance for Development Alternative Manipur (ADAM).
Addressing the gathering, SBI Regional Manager Lokho Peter reminded participants of humanity’s responsibility toward the environment. “Mother Earth has always sustained us, yet we continue to inflict damage on her,” he remarked.
While acknowledging that reversing the harm may not be easy, he stressed that collective and voluntary actions such as tree planting can play a vital role in protecting and restoring ecosystems. Trees, he noted, not only sustain life but also replenish rapidly depleting forests, making such initiatives indispensable.
The programme witnessed active participation from the Chief Manager, Rupachandra Thoudam, the Chief Manager of Kakching Branch, Kshetrimayum Rajeshwar, along with a large number of SBI employees. Volunteers from ADAM Kakching, led by Kshetrimayum Surjit, also took part with great enthusiasm.
