November 16, 2025: Imphal witnessed the roar of fighter jets in the sky on Sunday as the Indian Air Force (IAF) began large-scale routine drills across the Northeast, prompting Imphal Airport to issue a reassurance that there is no cause for panic.
The exercise follows a NOTAM issued by India for November 13 to 20, restricting civilian flight movement in designated border corridors near China, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh under Exercise Trishul 2025.
The drill involves fighter aircraft and air-defence elements, and may lead to minor delays at airports such as Imphal, Guwahati, and Agartala. Passengers have been advised to check flight updates.
Amid rumours, Imphal Airport clarified through its official handle that the exercise is “routine and pre-planned,” adding that all airport operations remain normal. The public has been urged to remain calm and avoid unnecessary speculation.
