Ibobi Raises Concerns Over Listing Manipur Among Regions Globally Facing International Conflicts

Imphal: Jan 24 : Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh on Friday voiced concerns over a report by US-based journalists that listed Manipur among eight regions globally facing international conflicts allegedly influenced by external forces.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for the newly elected leaders of the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress at Congress Bhavan in Imphal, he stressed the need for youth leaders to rise to the occasion and serve the state with unwavering dedication.

Ibobi described the youth leaders as the pillars of Manipur’s future, urging them to focus on addressing the current crisis through collective efforts.

Reflecting on the decision to hold MPCC elections amid challenging times, he credited the democratic and smooth electoral process to strategic advice from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, ensuring no disruption to the party’s internal structure.

Taking a swipe at the BJP-led government at the state and central levels, Ibobi criticized their tendency to blame Congress for the ongoing crisis in Manipur while failing to correct past mistakes.

He called for accountability and decisive action to address the state’s challenges.

Wahengbam Anand, the newly elected president of the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress, vowed to work with his team to restore peace, unity, and integrity in the state.

He emphasized Congress’s role as the primary opposition party, both at the state and national levels, in rectifying the missteps of the current government and seeking justice for the people.

The event was also graced by MPCC president Kh Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam, and other key leaders and office bearers, who echoed the call for committed leadership during this critical juncture in Manipur’s history.
