Following the elimination of 10 foreign-origin militants in a retaliatory firefight at New Samtal village in Manipur’s Chandel district along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) on the night of May 14, a significant cache of weapons was recovered from the spot.
The seized items include seven AK-47 rifles, one RPG launcher, one M4 rifle, four single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) rifles, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
The situation along the IMB remains under heightened surveillance. Security forces are maintaining a robust posture and coordinating with the civil administration and intelligence agencies to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the neutralised individuals were involved in cross-border insurgent activity. Efforts are underway to confirm their identities.
