With only 27 days remaining before the State Government’s December deadline for the complete resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the IDPs’ Joint Representatives on Thursday submitted a fresh reminder memorandum to the Governor of Manipur and the Chief Secretary.
The submission came alongside the ongoing one-month relay sit-in protest at Lamboi-Khongnangkhong Keithel, where IDPs and local residents continue their daily protest.
Today’s memorandum was submitted with organisers appealing for continued cooperation from media groups and civil society.
The memorandum, endorsed by COCOMI and issued from Lamboikhongnangkhong, acknowledges the initial resettlement steps reportedly taken in the Sadu Koireng and Waroiching areas of Bishnupur district but stresses that thousands of families still remain displaced.
It states that mere administrative assurances are insufficient unless accompanied by visible district-wise progress, security arrangements in vulnerable return villages, and a publicly released timeline-based status report.
