Illegal Arms Surrendered Following Governor’s Appeal

Feb 22, 2025: In response to an appeal by the Governor of Manipur on February 20, 2025, several illegal weapons and ammunition were surrendered to authorities across different districts.

At SP-Kakching in Kakching District, one .303 rifle with a magazine, thirteen .303 ammunition rounds, four BP vests, five BP plates, and four helmets were handed over.

In Kangpokpi District, a looted tear gas gun was surrendered at OC G. Saparmeina Police Station.

In another incident, security forces in Kakching Wairi recovered and handed over a large cache of weapons and ammunition. The items included one 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, one 5.6 mm caliber rifle, one 12-bore rifle, one 12-bore short gun, one 9 mm pistol, and one air pistol. Additionally, multiple rifles, live rounds, empty magazines, and firearm accessories were recovered.

Other surrendered items included thirteen small Motorola sets, nine Motorola charging adapters, twenty-eight BP jackets, thirty-eight BP plates, one helmet, one Khukri, and one CPU. Security forces also recovered Rs. 2,50,000 in cash.

Authorities continue their efforts to curb illegal arms possession, ensuring peace and security in the region.
