Authorities in Thoubal district on Thursday carried out a major eviction to remove illegal encroachments on government land, as part of a statewide initiative across Manipur.
The eviction was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Hannah Khamei in coordination with the Police Department and Thoubal Municipal Council. Teams from the Revenue Department and other line agencies dismantled unauthorized structures in multiple locations identified during prior surveys.
Khamei, who inspected the sites, said residents had been notified of the action through a public notice issued on July 22, 2025. She urged people to cooperate with the administration, adding that the reclaimed plots would be used for upcoming public infrastructure and civic projects.
The Thoubal eviction forms part of a broader campaign taking place in other districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi. However, Thursday’s focus remained on clearing government land in Thoubal to facilitate planned development in the district.
