The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin highlighting a low to moderate flash flood risk over the next 24 hours across several parts of central, northern, and northeastern India.
Based on recent rainfall data and forecast models, districts in East and West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland may witness flash flood-like conditions due to heavy rainfall and high soil saturation.
Rainfall of up to 52 mm in the past 24 hours has been recorded in many areas, with land surface models indicating soil saturation levels reaching 80% to 95% in parts of the affected regions. With dynamic models predicting very heavy rainfall up to 120 mm in the next 24 hours, localized surface runoff and inundation in low-lying and saturated areas is likely.
At present, no flash flood threat has been observed as of 11:30 AM IST today, and no immediate threat is expected in the next six hours. However, the IMD has urged vigilance in vulnerable areas, especially in watersheds and flood-prone zones.
Authorities and residents in the affected districts are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions. For more details, stay tuned to official IMD updates and local weather authorities.
