The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Sikkim today. The department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar.
In addition, heavy rainfall is likely over the next two days across several states, including Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and West Madhya Pradesh today.
Meanwhile, strong surface winds are expected at isolated places in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Residents in affected areas have been advised to stay alert and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
