IMD Warns of Moderate to Heavy Rainfall Across Northeast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh advisory warning of moderate to heavy rainfall across several northeastern states over the next 24 hours.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati, moderate rain is very likely at most places in Meghalaya and at many locations in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Tripura. Parts of Mizoram may also see light to moderate showers.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected at isolated places across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in isolated parts of Assam, while heavy showers are also likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Local Forecast for Guwahati: The city is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33°C and the minimum around 26°C.

Public Advisory: The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall. Citizens are encouraged to use government mobile applications such as Mausam (real-time forecasts), Meghdoot (agrometeorological advisories), and Damini (lightning alerts).
