The Imphal International Airport is all set to introduce Digital Inner-Line Permit (ILP) registration and issuance of permits to facilitate visitors entering or arriving in the state through air, and the newly installed ILP kiosk system has also been reviewed and tested today by Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh and Airport Director (APD), along with the concerned team on Tuesday.
The digital system is expected to take less time for travelers, approximately 3 minutes, to streamline the ILP process, and similar digital processes aim to be introduced at the Jiribam and Mao check posts, respectively, according to reports.
Mention may be made here that Manipur was brought under the ILP system in the year 2020, and four kinds of permits are being issued in the state: Special Category (for government contractors, investors, traders with business establishments in the state), Regular Permit (for frequent visitors), Temporary (for tourists, businesspersons), and Labour (groups brought by contractors, firms, or companies), etc.
The state government has also set up ILP check posts at Jiribam, Mao, Moreh, Jessami, Behiang, and Singzawl, as well as at Imphal Airport.
