In a bid to address increasing public inconvenience and traffic hazards, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, has announced that a joint survey drive will be conducted on August 2, 2025, from 7 AM onwards to assess encroachments and disturbances along several major roads in the district.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the areas identified for the drive include the stretch from Keishampat Junction to Ningthemcha Karong, the road from Ningthemcha Karong to Mayang Imphal Bengoon, the route from Naoremthong to Tera Bazar along CIPET, the Sanakeithel stretch from Officer’s Club Circle to Sinam Leikai, as well as RIMS Road and RIMS Canteen Road.
The initiative, which will be carried out by a team of officials under the leadership of the District Administration, is aimed at identifying and clearing various forms of encroachment such as the dumping of sand, stones, construction materials, and debris along roads and footpaths, which have been causing obstruction to traffic and posing safety risks to commuters.
The Deputy Commissioner has called for full cooperation from residents, landowners, and the general public to ensure the success of the drive and to help maintain clear, safe, and accessible roads across Imphal West.
