Imphal West Launches District-wide Enforcement and Awareness Drives for Road Safety Month

As part of the National Road Safety Month (NRSM) 2026 campaign, the Imphal West district administration has begun a series of enforcement and awareness initiatives aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic-related accidents.

On Wednesday, a joint team conducted a focused traffic monitoring drive near Kwakeithel Police Outpost. The drive was led by Additional District Magistrate Keisham Jadumani Singh, with active participation from the police, Traffic Police Control Wing, District Transport Office, and members of the media.

During the operation, motorists and commuters were not only checked for violations but also sensitized on safe driving practices. Officials highlighted the importance of adhering to traffic rules, wearing helmets and seat belts, and avoiding behaviors that commonly lead to road accidents.

The district administration announced that similar campaigns will be organized at key locations including DC Imphal West Road, Kangla Western Gate, Wahengbam Leikai Parking Area, Singjamei Police Station, and Kakwa throughout the month of January.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the administration stated that coordinated enforcement, sustained awareness efforts, and community participation remain central to its strategy for ensuring safer roads across the district.
