The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has raised strong concern by terming it as a breach of the buffer zone after one Meitei quinquagenarian from Sekmai Makha Leikai crossed the imaginary boundary line through a bus and was stranded at Kuki-dominated Sapermeina on Wednesday.
The quinquagenarian man, Yumjao Angom from Sekmai, reached Sapermeina and thereafter boarded a passenger bus plying from Imphal to Senapati. The person has now been handed over to Sekmai Police Station from Sapermeina by District Police, Kangpokpi.
CoTU said he was released unharmed in line with humanitarian values but condemned the crossing as a serious violation of fragile peace. It warned that any unauthorized movements would not be tolerated and asked the security forces to enforce stricter controls to prevent any recurrence.
The CoTU also stated that preventive measures are essential to maintain communal harmony and respect the agreed-upon boundaries.
