August 7, 2026: India secured the bronze medal in the Men’s Quad Event at the ISTAF Sepaktakraw World Championship, 39th King’s Cup, being held in Bangkok, Thailand.
India put up a strong performance in the league stage, defeating Sri Lanka 2–0 (15–2, 15–5), Vietnam 2–1 (15–12, 10–15, 15–12), Pakistan 2–0 (15–2, 15–5) and Iraq 2–0 (15–7, 15–7).
In the semi-final played today, India faced Thailand and suffered a 2-1 defeat, winning the opening set 9-15 before Thailand secured the next two sets 15–9, 15–9. The result earned India the bronze medal in the Men’s Quad Event.
The achievement comes shortly after India also secured bronze in the Men’s Hoop Event at the same 39th King’s Cup, making it another medal-winning performance for the Indian Sepaktakraw contingent at the championship.
The back-to-back bronze-medal finishes are a significant achievement for Indian Sepaktakraw and a proud moment for the Sepaktakraw fraternity of Manipur, reflecting the continued contribution of the state to India’s presence on the international stage.
