March 7, 2025: In a significant humanitarian initiative to commemorate International Women’s Day, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Imphal East, conducted a Women’s Health Screening Drive at Lamlai Relief Camp in Imphal East district. The initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services, medical consultations, and free medicines to displaced individuals residing in the relief camp.
A team comprising Army doctors and civil medical professionals worked tirelessly to ensure that the affected individuals, particularly women and children, received medical attention. Over 450 people, including elderly citizens, benefited from general health check-ups and specialized consultations. The team addressed common medical issues such as respiratory infections, skin diseases, gastrointestinal ailments, malnutrition, and chronic illnesses. Special emphasis was given to maternal and child healthcare, ensuring that vulnerable individuals received proper medical care and nutritional guidance.
In addition to treatment, the medical team conducted awareness sessions on preventive healthcare, hygiene, and sanitation. Essential medicines, nutritional supplements, and hygiene kits were also distributed among the attendees. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and local health authorities for their compassionate efforts in providing much-needed medical relief.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to peace, stability, and community welfare in the region. The medical outreach program is part of its continued efforts to support and assist the local population, particularly those affected by recent disturbances. Such initiatives will continue to ensure that healthcare services reach those in need.
