Indian Army Extends Healing Touch to Families of Bravehearts in Manipur

In a gesture of gratitude, the Indian Army observed Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day by organizing a Comprehensive Health and Wellness Camp for families of fallen soldiers at Koirengei in Imphal East district.

A release said the initiative was aimed at honouring the courage and sacrifice of Bravehearts by caring for their loved ones. A total of 54 spouses and 18 dependents attended the camp, where doctors from multiple specialties, including Eye, ENT, Gynaecology, Medicine, and Dental care, provided consultations, preventive screenings, and wellness advice.

To ensure lasting support, special counters for SPARSH and the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) were set up, enabling families to resolve medical entitlement issues on the spot. The Army described this as part of its enduring commitment to the welfare of its extended family.

AWWA, often called the ‘Invisible Force Behind the Olive Greens’, has long been at the forefront of welfare programmes, ranging from healthcare to education and empowerment of Army families.
