May 30, 2026 (IMP): The Chairman and members of the Commission of Inquiry (on Manipur Violence), who are currently on a 2-day visit to the state (May 29 to 31), met Manipur CM Y. Khemchand today and briefed him about their visit.
The team, led by Commission Chairman Justice (Retd) B.S. Chauhan and its two members, Retd IAS Himanshu Sekhar Das and Retd IPS Aloka Prabhakar, had on an earlier visit toured relief camps in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West, and Imphal East districts and interacted with Internally Displaced Persons to assess the ground realities.
During the visit, the Commission interacted directly with inmates of the relief camps, hearing first-hand accounts of displacement, hardship, and concerns arising from the violence.
The Commission members also heard all the grievances, living conditions, and expectations from the administration.
The visit is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to gather first-hand evidence and ensure that the inquiry remains firmly anchored in the lived experiences of affected communities.
