In a significant counter-terror success, security forces gunned down three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants during a high-stakes operation in the Nader Tral area of Awantipora, Pulwama district, early Thursday. The targeted strike followed pinpoint intelligence, highlighting the increasing precision and synergy between intelligence agencies and ground forces.
The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF. The Chinar Corps, in a post on X, detailed how suspicious movements were detected and challenged by alert troops, leading to a fierce gunfight.
“This operation reaffirms our commitment to neutralize threats with surgical accuracy,” an Army official said. The Kashmir Zone Police also confirmed the encounter, stating that forces remain deployed for area sanitization and recovery operations.
Meanwhile, in Reasi district, a separate security alert prompted a massive search operation after a woman reported sighting two suspicious individuals in the Bhaga forest area. Helicopters have been deployed to assist the joint combing effort, which is ongoing.
Authorities said these operations underline the heightened state of vigilance across Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at pre-empting threats and ensuring civilian safety amid increased militant activity in sensitive zones.
