Drugs Worth ₹350 Crores Seized
In a major breakthrough, Mizoram’s CID (Special Branch) and Special Narcotic Police Station staff seized a massive consignment of illegal drugs during a joint covert operation along the Zemabawk–Seling stretch today around 3:00 PM.
Acting on credible intelligence developed through technical surveillance and sustained fieldwork, the team intercepted a white TATA YODHA pick-up truck (Registration No. MZ01X 5782) carrying mithun and driven by B. Lalthanzuala (45), son of T. Johana, a resident of Republic Mual Veng, Aizawl.
Upon discreet search of the vehicle, the team uncovered a hidden compartment beneath the cargo bed, where the contraband was concealed. The recovered items included:
- 20.304 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine (20 packages), with an estimated street value of ₹300 crore
- 1.652 kilograms of Heroin (128 soap cases), valued at ₹49,56,000
This seizure is being considered one of the largest and most sophisticated drug busts in Mizoram in recent times.
