In a bid to promote nationalism and inspire the younger generation with the ideals of Jananeta Hijam Irawat, the 129th Birth Anniversary Celebration of the leader was observed at the YVA Ground, Wangjing SK Leikai on Tuesday. During the event, a newly constructed statue of Irawat was unveiled.
The programme was jointly organized by the YVA Irawat Celebration Committee and the Narengbam Ibotombi Memorial Trust, and saw participation from residents across the Wangjing-Tentha constituency. The statue was donated by Dr. Narengbam Rajivkumar and his family in memory of his late father, Narengbam Ibotombi.
Students from the IRE Group of Institutions, Wangjing, performed the state song as part of the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Narengbam Rajivkumar, President of the Democratic People’s Front, Manipur, and founder of the Narengbam Ibotombi Memorial Trust, stressed the importance of remembering Hijam Irawat’s contributions to build a progressive and united Manipur.
Speakers at the event highlighted that upholding Irawat’s teachings among today’s youth is key to ensuring a prosperous future for the state.
