The District Administration Kangpokpi, in collaboration with the Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA), organised a one-day district-level stakeholders’ programme on the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign at JK Conference Hall, Sapormeina, under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub-Division on Thursday. The programme marked one year since the nationwide campaign was launched by the Prime Minister on November 27, 2024.
Delivering the keynote address, IRMA Chief Functionary T. Lamjaneng Haokip highlighted the organisation’s role in Kangpokpi since its establishment in 2001, especially in child protection, women empowerment, and livelihood development. She noted that IRMA has initiated a 100-day awareness campaign against child marriage across the district.
ADM and CMPO Chairman N. Shokhongam Baite lauded IRMA’s efforts and stressed the need for inter-departmental action to end child marriage. He also urged data collection from remote areas and announced plans for a follow-up coordination meeting.
A pledge was administered to collectively work toward making Kangpokpi a Child-Marriage-Free District.
