Feb 24, 2025: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has raised questions on the intent of Assam Rifles for providing unwarranted escort to Kuki militants under the Suspension of Operations (SOO) and asked the intent of Assam Rifles DG, whether it’s to bring mistrust and confusion among the peace-loving citizens of Senapati District and its neighboring community.
In a video that went viral, the SDSA functionaries were heard questioning the armed cadres on their identity and purpose of visit to the district and were told they were members of the United Peoples’ Front (UPF), which is an SOO group and were invited by the DG of the Assam Rifles for a talk.
Addressing the media, the SDSA President informed that the SDSA functionaries, in the wee hours of February 22, came across Assam Rifles personnel escorting armed groups of a community in their vehicles. Then, in a visually unclear voice, Assam Rifles personnel can be heard replying that they were not aware of the matter.
The Naga students’ body also questioned whether the AR is working hand in glove with the Kuki militant group and demanded clarification.
