The Churachandpur district of Manipur cannot be considered safe for minor girls now, as another new incidence of rape has been reported again. And, according to our source, the 10-year-old girl was reported to have been raped on the 4th of April on the Western side of Lamka.
The victim, currently residing in the district, was admitted to the district hospital after the incident, and upon receiving information a police team, including officials from the Women Police Station of the district, reached the hospital for inquiry. The accused has been arrested, though the police have not disclosed his identity, as per the sources.
This incident marked the 3rd of such undesirable perpetration on minor girls during this quarter year of 2025; earlier, on March 20, one 9-year-old girl from a relief camp was suspected to have been raped and murdered. The body of the minor was found inside the Lanva TD Block relief camp late at night after a rigorous search effort.
Regarding this latest incident, the Zomi Mother Association issued a strong condemnation highlighting that the society is no safer and made an appeal to fight jointly by all sensible citizens thereby emancipating the society from such evil doers. The ZMA again urges the law enforcement agencies to award the hardest forms of punishment to the culprits.
