DEC 20, 2025 (IMP): ‘RK Production’, a local YouTube channel webcast in the vernacular Manipuri language, has once again come under serious censure for unethical content production, operating like an allegation farm disguised as a public informant, without fact-finding support, which could mislead the public and defame individuals.
Recently, the production house has been spreading false information through its channel regarding the Kairembikhok Junction–Heirok road construction project, alleged special contractor N. Babu told journalists at a press meet held in Thoubal on Saturday.
The contractor informed journalists that he would extend his support if the facts are properly verified regarding the allegations circulated by the channel. Instead, he added, the channel has attempted to mislead the public by projecting issues related to the construction of the Kairembikhok–Heirok road without consulting departmental engineers.
The contractor stated that he has been thrown into a negative light by the channel without being backed by any factual analysis or findings.
According to reports, the Kairembikhok–Heirok road project was executed above the sanctioned work order. As per the work order, the road width was approved at 12 feet, whereas public demand was for an 18-feet-wide road. Due to this discrepancy, the work was initially delayed. Later, upon public demand, the MLA of Heirok Constituency, Dr. Th. Radheshyam, agreed to support the widening to meet public needs, following which the work was resumed.
N. Babu further stated that blacktopping work was planned to be completed during the dry season. However, due to continuous public pressure, the work was carried out during the rainy months of May and June with the cooperation of local clubs and the public of Heirok. He acknowledged that intermittent rainfall disrupted the work, causing some defects at certain points.
He clarified that damage occurred in some sections because heavy vehicles were allowed to ply on the road before the concrete curing process was completed. This issue was further aggravated as vehicles continued to use the widened 18-feet road, even though the sanctioned IVR road width was only 12 feet. Such movement during the curing period led to cracks and surface damage.
N. Babu emphasized that the road was constructed successfully with the cooperation of Heirok clubs and local residents. He also stated that steps are being taken to repair the damaged sections caused by rain and vehicular load during the monsoon season. However, he strongly criticized the YouTube channel for publishing misleading content without consulting departmental engineers or understanding the work order and technical aspects of the project.
N. Babu stated that if the YouTube channel verifies facts properly with the concerned department and presents an accurate account, he would have no objection. Otherwise, spreading misinformation to malign contractors and confuse the public is unacceptable.
He concluded that RK Production should clarify the matter at the earliest; failing which, legal action will be initiated against the channel.
