AICC General Secretary in-charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his proposed September 13 visit to Manipur, calling it a “non-visit” and a “grave insult” to the people who have endured 29 months of turmoil.
Taking to X, Ramesh noted that the PM’s first trip to the strife-hit state in over two years is expected to last just about three hours.
“What does he hope to accomplish by such a rushed trip? This is actually an insult to the people of the state who have waited for him for 29 long and agonising months,” he wrote.
The Congress leader accused the Prime Minister of “callousness and insensitivity” towards Manipur, where the prolonged unrest has left deep scars on society. “September 13th will actually be a non-visit by the PM,” he remarked, suggesting that the much-hyped trip is more optics than substance.
