Jiribam, November 18, 2025: The District Administration of Jiribam, in partnership with the District Social Welfare Office and the District Child Protection Unit, observed the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan on Tuesday. The programme, held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, aligned with the nationwide theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat.”
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, led the gathering in taking the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge, reaffirming the district’s resolve to work toward a drug-free environment.
The district-level event coincided with a national celebration hosted in Amritsar, Punjab, attended by the Prime Minister, the Governor of Punjab, the Chief Minister of Punjab, and the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. A message from the Prime Minister was also read out as part of the observance.
In addition to the central event, the District Child Protection Unit conducted parallel programmes at three child care institutions: Gulamchat Children Home for Mentally Challenged Girls, Gulamchat Open Shelter Home for Boys, and Lairembi Shanglen Children Home for Girls. District Child Protection Officer H. Ibeyaima Devi administered the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan pledge to children at these centres.
Senior district officials joined the commemoration, including SDO Jiribam L. Tarajeet Singh, District Social Welfare Officer W. Hemender, SDC Jiribam S. Sitaranjeet, SDC/BO Jiribam RK. Gyandeep Singh, BDO Borobekra RK. Sailash Singh, SDC Borobekra M. Devananda Singh, along with other district-level officers.
