Joint Co-Op in Hill Districts of Manipur Recovers 203 Weapons, 51 Explosive Materials, and 109 Ammunitions

In what could be observed as an achievement for the security forces in the conflict-torn state of Manipur, as many as 203 weapons, nearly 51 explosive materials, and 109 ammunitions have been recovered by security forces in a jointly coordinated operation carried out simultaneously at different locations in four hill districts of Manipur last night.

The coordinated operation was carried out from midnight of July 3rd till early morning today at multiple sites in the interior and suspected areas of Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur districts by joint teams comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles/Army, and CAPFs.

Weapons recovered include:
INSAS Rifle – 21; AK Series – 11; SLR – 26; Sniper – 02; Carbine – 03; .303 Rifle – 17; 51 mm Mortar – 02; MA Assault Rifle – 02; M79 Grenade Launcher – 03; Rifle with Scope – 01; Single-shot Breech Loaded – 18; Single Barrel Bolt Action – 11; Pistol – 06; .22 Rifle – 01; Lathode – 02; Single Bore – 25; Pistol (country-made) – 03; Muzzle-loaded Rifle – 04; Single Bore – 06; Pompi – 38; and Lathode – 01.

Ammunition and explosives recovered include:
5.56 mm – 29; 7.62 mm – 80; IEDs – 30; Grenades – 10; Pompi Shells – 09; and Lathode Grenades – 02.

This recovery is one of the largest from the hill districts of Manipur during this conflict.
