In a decisive crackdown against illegal arms movement, joint teams of State and Central security forces have recovered a substantial cache of weapons, explosives, and tactical gear during a series of coordinated operations across Manipur’s hill and valley districts over the past 24 hours.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of armed miscreants in fringe areas, the security forces launched swift search operations and area domination drives. The operations led to multiple successful recoveries of warlike materials from key locations across the state.
In Imphal East, teams combed through the western foothills of Chingkhei Ching, uncovering a cache that included assault rifles, pistols, hand grenades, and riot-control equipment. Similar operations in Imphal West along the Khongnaobi Canal stretch resulted in the seizure of AK-series rifles, carbines, and anti-riot ammunition.
In Kakching District, a raid on the Wabagai Buffalo Farm led to the recovery of rifles, pistols, a 51 mm mortar shell, and various communication devices. Further south, in Tengnoupal District’s Saivom Village area, security forces discovered country-made pistols, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, and Pompi shells.
Officials have reiterated their commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region. Surveillance and intelligence-based operations have been intensified, with authorities stressing that these recoveries mark a significant step toward curbing insurgent activity and ensuring the safety of civilians.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of the seized arms and apprehend those involved in illegal trafficking and possession.
