In a counter-insurgency success, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Kakching Police Commandos recovered a cache of sophisticated weapons and ammunition during an operation in the Thambal Chingya area of Kakching District, Manipur.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about insurgent presence and a hidden stockpile of arms, the 16-member team launched a meticulously planned search operation on Thursday.
The operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, one modified single-barrel rifle, three bolt-action single-barrel rifles, one hand grenade, and sixty rounds of assorted live ammunition. Additional war-like stores were also seized from the site.
All recovered items have been handed over to Kakching Police Station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The Defence PRO said the successful joint action reflects the high level of coordination between the Assam Rifles and local police, significantly curbing insurgent activities in the region.
“Such recoveries not only prevent potential threats but reaffirm the collective resolve of security forces to maintain peace and stability in Manipur’s sensitive districts,” the statement added.
