Joint Tribes Council Urges Governor to Revive Imphal–Kangchup–Tamenglong Road Project, Improve Services in Tamenglong

A delegation from the Joint Tribes Council, Manipur met the Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan to present memoranda detailing the pressing needs and aspirations of the tribal communities they represent. At the center of their appeal was the call for immediate revival of the Imphal–Kangchup–Tamenglong road project, which they described as essential for reliable connectivity and economic activity in the region.

The Council raised concerns over gaps in public transport services, delayed infrastructure works, and inadequate implementation of key government schemes in Tamenglong District. They noted that stalled projects and persistent service shortfalls continue to hinder everyday functioning for local residents.

Additionally, the delegation flagged issues surrounding the 18th State Level Orange Festival, along with other cultural and economic initiatives requiring sustained support. They stressed that stronger infrastructure and improved public services are necessary for long-term community development.

The Governor briefed the members on the measures taken so far and assured them that the administration is working toward resolving the issues highlighted.
