Cracking down on rising instances of unauthorized structures and encroachments along public roads, the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching District has issued a strict directive ordering the removal of all such illegal constructions by 3 PM on August 8, 2025.
The order, issued under Section 15(1) of the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960 and Section 3 of the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1978, cites the proliferation of permanent and temporary structures such as house extensions, shops, and sheds on National Highways, State Highways, inter-district and inter-village roads, including footpaths.
These encroachments, the DC noted, are not only obstructing traffic flow but also posing serious safety hazards to the public.
Unauthorized occupants have been directed to clear all such encroachments and remove debris on their own within the stipulated deadline.
The administration warned that failure to comply will result in forced eviction, demolition, and removal of the offending structures by the District Administration, Police, and concerned line departments, with all expenses to be borne by the encroachers themselves.
