Kamjong Marks National Road Safety Month with Awareness Programme and Public Rally

Imphal: Jan 27 : In culmination of the National Road Safety Month 2025, the District Administration of Kamjong on Monday organised a commemorative event at the Town Hall of Kamjong DHQ.

The event, which attracted a large gathering, focused on promoting road safety awareness.

The Chief Guest, Rangnamei Rang Peter, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, lauded the enthusiasm of participants in the various road safety programmes held throughout the month.

In his address, he emphasised the critical role of various agencies in managing public roads and stressed the importance of key measures for road safety. He also urged the youth to play an active role in spreading awareness to reduce accident fatalities and injuries.

H.L. Jain, ADC Kamjong, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of understanding traffic rules and regulations to protect public life and ensure safer roads.

Ningshem Vashum, SP Kamjong, who was the Guest of Honour, called on everyone to take collective responsibility for road safety, stressing that it should be a shared effort from both young and old to create a safe environment for all.

The event also included the prize distribution for the District Level Quiz and Painting Competitions. The programme saw active participation from students, CSO leaders, headmen, pastors, and youth from surrounding villages.

Later in the day, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour led a public rally from Town Hall Kamjong to Police Gate, with hundreds of participants promoting road safety awareness. The rally aimed to spread the message of road safety to the general public.

National Road Safety Month, observed from 1st January to 31st January 2025, seeks to highlight the importance of safer roads for all under the theme, ‘Be a Road Safety Hero.’
