Kangla Attack Commemoration: CM Khemchand Calls for Unity Among Communities in Manipur

March 24, 2026 : Chief Minister Y. Khemchand has urged all communities in the state to uphold unity and coexistence for a peaceful and developed Manipur.

He was speaking at the Commemoration of the Kangla Attack, marking the historic Anglo-Manipur War, held at Bir Tikendrajit Park today.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that Meiteis, Nagas, Kukis, and Meitei Pangals are all integral parts of Manipur’s identity, stating that the idea of the state is rooted in unity among its diverse communities.

He recalled that throughout different phases of Manipur’s history, various communities have lived together while safeguarding the integrity of the state. Stressing the importance of collective harmony, he called on the people to uphold the values of oneness to ensure peace and development.

Highlighting that “unity is strength,” he urged citizens to preserve and instil a sense of togetherness among all sections of society.

During the programme, the Chief Minister, along with other dignitaries, paid floral tributes to martyrs, freedom fighters, and unsung heroes. A two-minute silence was also observed in their honour.

The event was organised by the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 Martyrs & Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur), and was attended by representatives of various communities, including students and members from within and outside the state.
