Kangpokpi Women, Including from IDP Camps, Receive Sewing Machines Under Mission Shakti-Shakti Shadan Project

Kangpokpi witnessed the successful conclusion of a three-month vocational training course on tailoring under the Mission Shakti-Shakti Shadan Project, organized by the Institute for Community Action and Resource Development (ICARD). The program aimed to empower women by equipping them with skills and resources to achieve self-reliance.

The closing ceremony, held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, saw participants proudly receive sewing machines from Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Choudhary. Eight women, including some from Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps, were given the machines, allocated based on individual circumstances to support those most in need.

During the ceremony, trainees shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and the support provided by the district administration. Officials highlighted the program’s benefits, emphasizing how vocational training can help women sustain themselves and contribute to their families’ livelihoods.

The event was presided over by Lamminlal Simte and attended by ADM N. Shokhongam Baite, SP Manoj Prabhakar, SDOs, and other district officials. The ceremony underscored ICARD’s commitment to women’s empowerment and demonstrated the positive impact of skill development programs in Kangpokpi.
