Feb. 12, 2025: BJP MLA Karam Shyam, who recently reconciled with CM N. Biren after a brief rivalry, hinted at upcoming developments amid the political uncertainty in Manipur.
Speaking after his meeting with BJP Northeast Coordinator MP Sambit Patra at Hotel Imphal, Shyam stated, “We are talking for a cause. It will be in the public interest. There will be a solution as there is a problem.”
However, the MLA refrained from providing further details, adding, “It would not be right for me to brief on what is to be disclosed by the central and state leaders.”
The discussions at Hotel Imphal have continued since CM Biren’s resignation, with legislators meeting Sambit Patra individually. Patra, who also met Governor A.K. Bhalla twice (yesterday evening and this morning), plays a pivotal role in these ongoing talks.
Ahead of his meeting with Patra, Shyam dismissed rumors of President’s Rule in Manipur, saying, “I don’t know about PR. I believe the issue will be resolved by the Centre in consultation with legislators.”
He also expressed doubt that the name of the new CM would be announced today.
Meanwhile, Minister Th. Biswajit, rumored to be a strong contender for the CM’s post, also declined to disclose details of his meeting with Sambit Patra yesterday, merely stating that the talks were focused on restoring peace in Manipur.
