The Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA) today organised a Legal Awareness Programme as part of its ongoing initiative to spread legal knowledge among school students across the district.
The programme, held at Green Ground Academy and Wangoo Laipham Upper Primary School, focused on sensitising students about The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
Members of the KDBA served as resource persons, interacting with the students and highlighting the importance of legal safeguards available to protect children from exploitation and early marriage.
Today’s programme marked the continuation of a series launched by the Association in July this year with the objective of taking legal awareness to schools across Kakching district.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kakching graced the event as chief guest, while the Zonal Education Officer, Kakching, also attended. Both officials lauded the efforts of the KDBA in reaching out to young students and creating awareness on crucial child protection laws.
