Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Andro, in collaboration with the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division, marked the International Day of the Girl Child 2025 with a vibrant celebration focused on this year’s theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead – Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”
The event began with a warm welcome for Army personnel and distinguished guests, followed by an inspirational address from an Army officer highlighting discipline, leadership, and service to the nation. Maj Memthoi KH (Retd) delivered a special lecture on career guidance, mental wellness, and health and hygiene, motivating students to explore diverse career opportunities, including in the Indian Armed Forces, while emphasizing emotional and physical well-being.
Students added vibrancy to the celebration with a cultural performance celebrating girlhood, unity, and hope, earning appreciation from guests. The programme concluded with a sanitary kit distribution drive organized by the Red Shield Division in collaboration with Aakar Innovations Pvt. Ltd. and Aakar Social Ventures, distributing 300 kits to promote menstrual hygiene and adolescent health.
Principal Rani Rose thanked the Indian Army for their continuous support in community development and student growth, noting that such initiatives strengthen confidence and purpose among young girls. The Red Shield Division reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing capable girls who can play transformative roles in society.
