Chief Minister Y. Khemchand today assured that infrastructure-related grievances raised by Sainik School Imphal would be taken up with the concerned authorities for necessary action, emphasising that students must be given due priority as the “pillars of society.”
The Chief Minister visited the school campus and was received by Khurai MLA L. Susindro Meitei, Principal Col. A. Rajiv, and senior officials of the institution.
During the visit, Principal Col. A. Rajiv presented a detailed briefing on the functioning of the school and highlighted several pressing concerns, including deteriorating infrastructure, water supply issues, the need for strengthening the perimeter wall, pending construction of a girls’ hostel, and sound clarity problems in the Vikram Batra Auditorium. He also outlined the school’s recent academic achievements, notable performances in competitive examinations, and participation of cadets in various national-level events.
Responding to the issues, the Chief Minister stated that the concerns would be examined seriously and taken up with the appropriate departments. He appreciated the efforts of the school administration in maintaining standards despite constraints and acknowledged the institution’s contribution to nurturing disciplined and capable youth.
As part of the visit, the Chief Minister conducted a detailed inspection of various sections of the campus to assess infrastructure requirements and identify areas needing renovation, repair, and construction. He interacted with members of the Alumni Association, staff, and students, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in academics as well as extracurricular pursuits.
He also met Memota Keisham, a student of the school who had earlier participated in an interaction with Narendra Modi during the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha. She was among only 15 students selected from nearly four crore participants nationwide. The Chief Minister commended her confidence and achievement.
Commissioner (Education) Ningthoujam Geoffrey, Squadron Leader (Administrative Officer) Sachin Kumar, Senior Master SSI A. Rommel Singh, and other senior officials were present during the visit.
