Khongthang News extends aid to cameraman injured by Kuki Militants’ gunfire

In a show of fraternity and support, the Khongthang News Group, led by its Editor-in-Chief Wangkhemcha Dhamendro, on Friday extended financial assistance to video journalist Leimapokpam Kabichandra, alias Kabi, who is currently recovering from a gunshot wound sustained in the line of duty.

Kabi was injured on December 28, last year, while covering an exchange of gunfire between Kuki militants and security forces at Thamnapokpi in Imphal East. He suffered a bullet wound to his left thigh and is now recuperating at his residence in Imphal.
During the visit, the Khongthang News team handed over monetary aid of Rs. 7,000 and offered prayers for Kabi’s speedy recovery.

Speaking on the occasion, Editor-in-Chief Wangkhemcha Dhamendro commended Kabi’s courage and dedication as a journalist, expressing solidarity with media professionals working in conflict zones.

The team also announced plans to visit another journalist, Ayekpam Birjit, of a local evening daily, who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.
