KIM and UNC condemn K. Songlung arson incident and appeal for restraint in all forms of violence

Jan 27, 2026 (IMP): After the incendiary incident in K. Songlung (Part-II) village, the joint meeting of the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and the United Naga Council (UNC) unequivocally condemned the burning down of households in K. Songlung (Part-II) village in broad daylight, resulting in loss of property and panic among the victims, allegedly by the Zeliangrong United Front-Kamsom group on January 26, 2026.

The two apex bodies appealed to the general public and all concerned to maintain peace and restrain from any form of violence between the communities. Further, they cautioned all fellow tribals to refrain from writing or posting unwarranted rumours and false propaganda that create animosity and tension among the communities.

The joint meeting also shared concern and solidarity with the victims’ families and underscored the need to initiate immediate relief and justice for the affected families, said a statement issued by Ch. Ajang Khongsai, President, KIM, and Ng. Lorho, President, UNC.
