KIMACS Promotes Thang-Ta in Schools to Preserve Manipur’s Cultural Heritage

Feb. 5, 2025: In a bid to preserve and promote Manipur’s rich cultural heritage, KIMACS organised an event today at Regular English High School in Imphal, focusing on the teaching of Thang-Ta, the traditional Manipuri martial art.

The event featured workshops and performances, engaging students in learning the art form.

KIMACS Advisor Leitanthem Dhamendro, along with school Headmistress Chingtham Aruna and Secretary Chungkham Nabakumar, led the initiative, which highlights the importance of incorporating traditional subjects like Thang-Ta into the school curriculum.

KIMACS, in a release, stated that it has been focusing on integrating traditional subjects into the school curriculum, highlighting the importance of teaching young generations about the cultural heritage of Manipur.

The organisation also aims to make these traditional subjects more accessible in schools across the region through collaborations and continued efforts in promoting local arts and language education.

Through such programs, KIMACS hopes to inspire students to take pride in their heritage while ensuring that these art forms continue to thrive in modern society.
