In a breakthrough, the Churachandpur Police Station arrested the self-styled commander-in-chief (C-in-C) of CKLA/UPLF (United Kuki Liberation Front) along with one foreign-made M4 assault rifle from the Churachandpur area.
The arrested C-in-C has been identified as Seikhongam Baite alias Ngamcha (50), son of Thanglet Baite of Sugnu Tribal, Chandel district of Manipur, currently staying at B. Phaicham in Churachandpur. Seikhongam Baite, along with his gang, by using the names of CKLA and UPLF, has carried out extortion and kidnapping in the town area for some time now, according to police.
According to reports, other items recovered from the arrest include one magazine, 20 live rounds of 5.56 mm, and one black-and-white GSM keypad phone. A case has also been registered under 145(11)2025 CCP-PS u/s 140/142/3(5) BNS, 25(1-C) Arms Act.
