The Kohima-Mao National Highway (NH-2), via the Kedima Route bordering Nagaland, which was earlier cut off due to heavy rainfall and subsequent landslide, has finally been reopened this afternoon with immediate attention and concerted efforts from Manipur Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh and MLA Mao AC Shri Losii Dikho.
Crucial support in clearing the passage to Manipur’s lifeline was extended by Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio and Nagaland Deputy CM and Minister in-charge of Nagaland PWD & National Highway T.R. Zeliang.
Due to the torrential rain and landslides, the stretch from the Naga Students’ Union Martyrs Park Point to Kedima, Kohima—about 8 km—and the entire Mao to Chakhabama Road to Kohima—26 km—had been severely deformed due to lack of maintenance and repair work.
MLA Dikho, with intervention from Manipur Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh, also surveyed the alternative roads to the Manipur Mao Gate to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of passenger vehicles and six-wheeled heavy goods vehicles supplying food and essential items to Manipur.
