In connection with the upcoming State-level Shirui Festival in Ukhrul, the Kuki Zo Village Volunteer Eastern Zone (KZVV-EZ) has threatened the entire Meitei community and resolutely prohibited any individual from the Meitei community from entering or accessing their villages or territories, including for the purposes of attending the Shirui Lily Festival. They advised all members of the Meitei community to refrain from entering or crossing their areas at any time. Just as they continue to uphold and respect the boundaries and integrity of the Meitei territories, they expect the same in return. Any violation of this directive will be considered intentional, and individuals shall bear full responsibility for any consequences that may follow.
Meanwhile, in a swift response, the Wung Tangkhul Region of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has strongly objected to a recent press communiqué issued by the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteer – Eastern Zone (KZVV-EZ), dated May 11, 2025, which allegedly implied territorial claims over certain villages in the Ukhrul district.
In an official press release issued today, the NSCN expressed concern over the statements made by KZVV-EZ in connection with the upcoming Shirui Lily Festival. While acknowledging and appreciating the expression of goodwill towards the festival and its goal of promoting environmental awareness and sustainable tourism, the NSCN took exception to what it described as “outrageous and provocative” territorial assertions.
