Kuki Groups React to FOCS Tour, Warn Meiteis Will Not Return if Line Crossed

March 05, 2025: In response to the FOCS (Federation of Civil Society Organisations) Manipur announcement for a ‘Peace Tour’ upholding the Union Home Minister’s directives for free movement without obstruction, the Kuki groups issued a threat that if Meiteis set foot in any Kuki-inhabited areas, then the Meitei would not return, saying, “Cross this line, you will not return.”

“Do not set foot in Kuki territories unless you are prepared to face the full consequences of your reckless provocation,” said the statement issued by the Kuki Alliance for Nampi Awakening Movement (KANAM) and termed it a final and uncompromising warning to the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS).

The Village Volunteers Eastern Zone said, “There will be no free movement in Kuki-Zo areas before the establishment of a Separate Administration/Union Territory with a legislature for the Kuki-Zo people.”

Now, at this crucial juncture, it remains to be seen whether the Union Home Minister’s directives will be enforced strictly, ensuring obstruction-free movement and commuter safety on the national highways of Manipur, and whether the FOCS, along with the people, will set off the peace march beyond the artificially curved buffer zone.

The Village Volunteers Eastern Zone also warned that any individual or organization attempting to reconcile with the Meiteis through the government before the establishment of a Separate Administration/UT will face severe consequences.
