Kuki Tribe Missing, Among the State’s 25-Autochthonous People List in Unity Pillar

Leaders of altogether 25 autochthonous people (Yellhoumee) have come together, taking a pledge to protect and safeguard the state from any foreign intruders who want to fragment Manipur into many parts, during the tree plantation event organised by the Federation of Haomee at the recently constructed ‘Indigenous Pillar’ at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao in Imphal East.

The Vice-President of Federation of Haomee, Dr. K. Heera Kabui, and the chairman of the construction committee stated that the Kuki tribe has been trying to assimilate smaller non-Kuki tribes and other sub-tribes of Manipur with an aim to erase their identity and embrace them into their fold. These people have propagated various narratives through publications and the erection of monuments to support their claims. Now, in some parts, the Kom, Liangmai, and Kharam villages have even been claimed as Kuki villages by producing fabricated documents.

According to Sapam Jadumani, the effort has been on to build an Indigenous Pillar, and they organised the tree plantation in the surrounding area after its proper foundation. The objective is to unite all the indigenous people to face those outsiders (Kuki), who are relentlessly trying to bifurcate Manipur. The attendance of all the 25 leaders of indigenous tribes has shown that they are ready to go together in unity to protect and safeguard the state from intruders.

Autochthonous People/Yellhoumee of Haoleipak (Manipur), India, according to Haomee, are:
