Kuki Villages Surrender Arms to Tamenglong Police

March 1, 2025: In accordance with the public notice issued by the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who had extended the deadline for surrendering arms, residents of Kuki villages along National Highway-37 (Imphal–Jiribam) have surrendered arms, ammunition, and related accessories to the Tamenglong District Police.

The surrender ceremony took place today at Phaitol village, located in Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong District. The event saw the participation of representatives from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the 38 Assam Rifles (AR), ensuring a smooth and secure handover process.

Villages involved in the arms surrender include Phaitol, Tatbung, Lhangnom, and Muktokhal, all of which fall under the jurisdiction of Kaimai Police Station in Tamenglong District. This move is seen as a step towards restoring peace and stability in the region.

Authorities have expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended by the villagers and security forces in facilitating this process. The surrender marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms possession and strengthen security measures in the district.

Further details regarding the surrendered weapons and future rehabilitation measures for those involved are yet to be disclosed by the authorities.
